A cry for the Tiger

A cry for the Tiger

By May Kwek

Black flames on an orange coat
The ruler of the forest from times old
Swiftly you glide through your domain
Hiding behind the forest lanes

Sharp claws hid in your paws
In the jungle there’s only one law
Do what you must to survive
Whatever it is you must not die

Lightly you step in the forest deep
You’re hungry and must eat
You see a goat, yes that would do
And slowly forward you must move

Up and swiftly you quickly pounce
At the same times a gun sounds
And you drop down dead and gone
The life in you has swiftly gone

A man above your body stops
Soon your hide would be in a shop
For to man there’s only one law
That they are the ruler of them all!

And soon you’ll lie dead and rotten
But in the forest you’re never forgotten
For the forest always remembers its very own
And there the spirit of the tiger will always roam
