The Flower that didn't last
By May Kwek
I once saw a flower dancing in the cold
I remember its pinkish hue and sun given glow
but the elements decided that this was not to last
and so the wind blew it into the dust
There on the soil I saw it lie
I snapped a picture and left it to time
Keeping a memory of its hue
And the bright petals covered in dew
The days passed and flower rotted away
Leaving nothing but a sweet wave
Reminding me that here in the dust
Once laid a flower that didn't last
